of which almost none were done, It really did take off
in a whole different way than predicted.
Got a question from a friend of mine to do something
as different as writing some stuff for A PUNK PROJECT?!
I mean, come on, I had done those powerpop/soft rock-
things so much I almost got to the point where I do one
in my sleep, so my first thought when she asked me was
"Yeah, what style? Ballads? Uptempo? Acoustic? Love?".
The reply I got was something similar to "nah, I need help
with a punk project in Swedish.".
Punk, one thing I had never even thought about.
And Swedish, which happens to be my second language
when it comes to writing. Anyway, I hesitated a bit,
and then I was like "well, let's do it".
Didn't really turn out that good, though.
Guess my fablesse for Gyllene shone through a bit too much,
as did my timidness. I simply didn't let go of the
safety net, but always held on with a few fingers.
Test result? Fail. Was fun to try something new, though,
and it still echoes in my mind from time to time.
Otherwise, too much didn't happen that spring,
unless you count a really brave fighter who
lost against cancer on the 31st of March.
Had been following her on the blog since January,
and even though all of us knew where it would head
the last day, we were still crossing our fingers
and being amazed by her willpower to live.
I guess that's why there was such a great shock
when she passed away.
Nevertheless, another thing was added to the cyberfamily
of mine a bit later. Created a MySpace-account in the
beginning of April. That I didn't really start using it
until almost a year later was another story.
At that very same moment I also decided to
at least write a song for the fighter mentioned earlier,
simply because it felt like the least I could do
to honour her. Title of the song was I'm Wondering Why at first,
then changing it by simply removing the "why".
Then I guess the same old thing started. I don't know
how it happened, it was just like the songs started flowing
by themselves, you know the deal. Anyway, about two weeks later
I had none less than 18 tracks written down.
Haven't regret that thing for a second, though.
Didn't make any changes, didn't need to either.
It all was there. The whole thing was named Fighter.
Other than that it was another one of those "highway years".
Not much happened, I wrote a few demos, worked, you know.
Although I started working on a successor for the
Songs For Jess-project from the year before. Had about
30 tracks or so stored in the phone when, in the late summer,
while at work, the phone fell out of my pocket, fell about 4 metres,
into the tarmac and crashed the display. Didn't manage
to get any data out of it, and didn't want to just
hastily write together a new thing either.
Got myself a new phone though.
Since i hadn't published either the first Songs For Jess,
or the Fighter-project on the blog, I did honour the latter's
birthday by doing just that. She would have turned 35, so
it felt more than natural to do just that.
Anyway, the autumn went pretty smooth. Turned 25 myself,
so celebrated that with relatives. Must say I was quite
surprised over all the stuff and response I got.
It was like total mayhem to me. And that was before
I started reading all the wishes I had got on facebook.
Oh my god. Mayhem it was. My writing alter ego was
celebrating in a lot softer way though.
It simply decided to put together a collection
called 25 and that was it. Simple and clean.
Just kidding, it was really difficult to select the tracks.
Otherwise it stayed pretty easy-going until the middle of
December. We went to Sweden on a shopping trip, got home
with lots of things, and in my case four new demos and the
thought of a project to be done in 2010. Also made a
twitter-account that very night. Still haven't regret it.
There have been many nights with laughs as well as tears.
A week later, well, I guess destiny's mean stepsister
couldn't let me visit my great aunt with a christmas flower,
but decided she would pass away the very night before.
Although, on the other hand, it may have been the best for her.
She was 90 years old and had been in a bad condition for long.
Didn't exactly made it more fun though.
Ended the year with traditional christmas and new year's celebrations.
Also wrote two more demos on that new year's eve.
One named "End Of A Decade" and the other named "A New Era".
So yeah, I guess that was that. If I only had known
back then how crazy 2010 would turn out...
